How does one get hurt from an online forum? 

Curse words made baby Jesus cry, didn't you know that? Disagreeing with the regulars causes cancer, and arguing for a cause that conflicts with the overall tranquility of the site results in automatic death. These things must be prevented at all costs, even if it involves becoming a mod to scare those bad people away. If that doesn't work then the only solution is to harass the site admin until they get what they want and life goes back to peace and harmony and motherfukcin' quilting bees.

They take things said personally or literally, also they can't separate real life from their forum life.

A lot of us become friends outside the forum, especially on LU. When you trust your friends enough to allow them access to your children, home, etc then it really hurts when you find out that they are feeding the trolls info about you. That's a problem we've had in our UG.

Some people are mental cases...I think that goes with the territory when you're meeting them from an online forum.

That's one reason why I don't want to be friends with someone I only know from a forum. If I knew them before I/they joined a forum I was on I wouldn't have a problem with it.
I don't put my personal life out there on message boards simply because I don't want strangers taking what I say and running with it.

I've seen several that put all their personal problems out there on a message board and then when someone tells them it's TMI they get all hurt over it.
